How I named the collection

The Shape of Water

 

I have always loved to paint water.

 

Deconstructing the water in a still life has a double meaning to me —

1) it’s the way I paint it, I break the water into shapes

and

2) it’s also the “the shape” of my experience with the energy of my paintings, at the time I paint them. 

 

By painting in shapes, I can give form to things that don’t have form, making abstract things like emotions, moods — and water —  easier to see.

 

Painting also helps me “shape" my world and my experience in it.
